LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's soccer team recorded a 1-0 victory over Cal Poly in a Saturday exhibition at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.

With the win, the Bruins went 2-0-0 in preseason play, outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 4-0.

Junior forward Ollie de Visser notched the lone goal in Saturday's contest, finding the back of the net less than 90 seconds into the second half.

The goal came after a solid passing sequence by the Bruins, with senior midfielder Andrew Paoli finding sophomore winger Constantinos Michaelides with room down the left flank. From there, Michaelides sent in a low ball across the box, where de Visser redirected it with his right foot inside the far post.

UCLA held the Mustangs off the board the rest of the way, though the visitors did have a pair of solid chances in the final seconds of the game. Emmanuel Perez had a game-tying goal wiped off for an offside violation with just over two minutes remaining, while goalie Carlos Arce-Hurtado put in a goal-bound header with less than a minute left that was blocked by the UCLA back line.

The Bruins outshot Cal Poly by a margin of 8-5. Each team registered a single shot attempt in the first half.

UCLA opens its regular season slate with a home contest against Lipscomb on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 7:30 p.m. PT. Single-game and season tickets are available HERE.
