Rising junior Emma Spitz has been named to the preseason ANNIKA Award Watch List presented by Stifel, as announced on Friday.
Spitz, one of 20 collegiate players earning a spot on the Watch List, has been a finalist for the ANNIKA Award in each of her first two seasons. Last season, she was named First Team WGCA All-American and All-Pac-12, finishing the season with a runner-up showing at the NCAA Championship. She was under par in her final three rounds, including a 4-under 68 in the final round, to finish at 7-under 281. Spitz was a combined 15-under in her last two tournaments of the season, winning the NCAA Louisville Regional (-8, 208). She closed with a 5-under 67 and a 4-under 68 to win by five strokes. It was the second victory of Spitz's career and first solo win.
Spitz was the top finisher for the Bruins in seven of nine events, with all of those being in the Top 4. She was second at the Sun Devil Winter Classic (-6, 210) thanks to three under-par rounds, including an opening, 3-under 69. Spitz tied for second at the Lamkin Invitational (-1, 215), shooting a pair of 2-under 70s, tied for third at The Match in the Desert (E, 144) and the Silverado Showdown (-2, 214) and was solo fourth at the Bruin Wave Invitational (+7, 223).
