Ducks Tied for No. 13 in Latest AVCA Poll
EUGENE, Ore. – Coming off an undefeated home opener, the Oregon volleyball team is tied for No. 13 in Monday's release of the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll. The Ducks are one of six teams from the Pac-12 in this week's top 25, the second highest-ranked among the group.
Oregon notched three straight-set wins this past weekend with victories over Portland State, Santa Clara and San Jose State at Matthew Knight Arena. For their individual efforts, Abby Hansen, Georgia Murphy and Brooke Nuneviller earned spots on the Oregon Invitational All-Tournament Team.
The Ducks' offense generated a .296 hitting percentage during the weekend with the help of two efforts of .310 or higher. Individually, Hansen posted a .720 hitting efficiency with 20 kills (2.22 k/s) and just two errors on 25 swings. Nuneviller tallied a team-high 3.00 kills per set and registered a double-double (11k, 10d) against San Jose State.
Defensively, Murphy picked up 4.56 digs per set while Hansen and Gloria Mutiri each posted 13 blocks, good for 1.44 blocks per set. Oregon also served up 18 aces including a team-high give off the hand of Kylie Robinson. The Ducks' combined efforts held the opposition to a combined .070 hitting percentage.
Among Pac-12 teams, Oregon ranks only behind Washington (No. 11). The conference is represented by Washington, Oregon, UCLA (18), Utah (19), Stanford (20) and Washington State (25). The Ducks are tied with BYU for the No. 13 spot in the poll.
This week, Oregon heads to Houston, Texas, for matches against Rice and SMU. Rice, the weekend host, is receiving votes in this week's national poll.
