BERKELEY, Calif. – Twelve Cal men's swimming & diving alumni were announced Monday as candidates for the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America's (CSCAA) centennial list of 100 Greatest Swimmers & Divers.
Golden Bear greats Nathan Adrian, Par Arvidsson, Matt Biondi, Duje Draganja, Damir Dugonjic, Anthony Ervin, Smith Graham, Ryan Hoffer, Ryan Murphy, Andrew Seliskar, Tom Shields and Ugur Taner were among the 973 candidates selected from 2,805 nominees spanning more than 100 years of swimming.
The 12 Bears will now go to a Blue Ribbon Panel of voters who will be charged with narrowing the selections to 100 men and 100 women. Alongside the Cal women's swimming & diving program, the Bears boasted 19 total nominees. View the full list of candidates on CSCAA.org.
In addition to naming the 100 Greatest Swimmers & Divers, the association will also name 100 Great and Pioneering Coaches, 100 Alumni of Impact, and Centennial MVP's for every team. Nominations for these awards are still being accepted at https://www.cscaa.org/centennial.
