Sep 2, 2021

SEATTLE – The Washington women's soccer team lost to Portland 1-0 on Thursday night at Husky Soccer Stadium. With the loss, UW dropped to 1-3 on the season.

The Huskies were in control for the better part of the match but couldn't find the back of the net. Summer Yates had six shots in total on the night as well as having two opportunities rattle off the cross bar in the opening 45 minutes.

The match winner by the Pilots took place in the 64th minute off a breakaway goal by Nedya Sawan with Taryn Ries assisting on the play.

Washington out-shot Portland 15-4 while controlling over 55% of the possession in the match, but ultimately couldn't put one past the Pilots goalkeeper to equalize. Ruby Hellstrom, Karlee Stueckle and Ameera Hussen each had two shots in the match.

The Huskies are back in action on Sunday afternoon in Albuquerque, NM to face the Lobos of New Mexico. The match is set for 11 a.m.
