Sep 5, 2021

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Oregon State women's soccer team capped its weekend in Connecticut with a 2-0 victory over Central Connecticut State in New Britain, Conn. on Sunday. The Beavers are now 6-0 on the season and have two non-conference matches left before Pac-12 play opens.

"Though the first half may not have been the best performance of our weekend, our response in the second half was relentless, gritty, and intelligent," said head coach Lauren Sinacola. "I'm proud of our team's response and it feels good to come out of a long road trip with two wins. We are looking forward to returning home and getting back to work to prepare for UC Irvine."

After a scoreless first half, freshman McKenna Martinez found the net in the 56th minute with an assist from junior Sophie Conrad. Junior Abby Schwartz secured the Beavers' lead with a penalty kick goal in the 82nd minute, putting Oregon State up 2-0 over the Blue Devils.

In goal, senior Bridgette Skiba recorded three saves, posting her 11th career solo shutout. Over the course of the game, the Beavers took eight corner kicks and tallied five shots on goal out of 10 shots total.
