TEMPE, Ariz. – Rising junior Abbey Forbes of the UCLA women's tennis team will begin the 2021-22 season at No. 2 in the ITA singles rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Tuesday.

The ITA also announced Monday the field for the ITA Women's All-American Championships by LTP, set for Oct. 4-10 in Charleston, S.C. Forbes will compete in the singles main draw.

Forbes is coming off a season in which she registered a 24-3 singles record, including a 21-2 mark in dual matches for the Pac-12 regular-season champions. She posted all but one of her singles decisions on Court 1. As a result, Forbes was named the Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year and achieved ITA All-America status for singles play. Of her 24 singles wins, 18 came against nationally-ranked opponents. Forbes also had success on the doubles courts, totaling 13 victories against just two losses and eventually earning the Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year award with partner Jada Hart. She completed the campaign with a trip to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championships singles tournament, dispatching of three top-40 counterparts in the process.

The preseason ranking is a career best for Forbes, who climbed to No. 4 on the final list of the 2020-21 campaign.
