Active Rosters Include 23 Bruins to Start New NFL Year
With the 2021 NFL season set to kickoff Thursday in Tampa, Fla., 23 former UCLA football standouts are currently listed on active rosters.
Of the nearly two dozen Bruins in the professional ranks, 11 are offensive players and 12 reside on the defensive side of the ball. Tight end Marcedes Lewis of the Green Bay Packers is back for his 16th campaign, while special teams star Matthew Slater readies for his 14th go-around with the New England Patriots. Slater earned his ninth Pro Bowl and second All-Pro selections in 2020.
In line to see their first action at the next level are 2020 All-Pac-12 honorees Demetric Felton and Osa Odghizuwa. Felton was a sixth-round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns, while Odighizuwa went in the third round to the Dallas Cowboys.
Odighizuwa's Cowboys ring in the new year Thursday against the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. NBC will provide television coverage of the opener, beginning at 5:20 p.m. PT.
