Avrit’s Even Par Round Leads Ducks
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Owen Avrit shot an even-par 70 while Craig Ronne and Eric Doyle both shot rounds of 71 to lead the Ducks Friday at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at Mirabel Golf Club.
As a team on the first day of the 2021-22 fall season, Oregon shot a 7-over 287 and was tied for 12th.
How It Happened: Owen was the Ducks' most consistent golfer, posting a birdie and a bogey on both the front and the back to go along with 14 pars.
Ronne was 3-over at the turn, but rallied with two birdies on the second nine to get back to 1-over. Doyle, a freshman playing his first tournament as a Duck, had two birdies in his first three holes. Both he and Ronne finished their rounds with birdies.
Avrit was tied for 37th, while Doyle and Ronne were tied for 51st.
Notable: Dating back to last season, four of Avrit's last eight rounds have been 70 or better.
