Pregame:

  • The Colorado Buffaloes will play the No. 6  Texas A&M  Aggies (AP, Coaches) at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver this Saturday at 1:30 PM
  • The Colorado Buffaloes are 1-0 overall, 0-0 in the Pac 12 coming off a 35-7 blowout victory of Northern Colorado last week
  • The Texas A&M Aggies are also 1-0 overall, 0-0 in SEC coming off a blowout 41-10 win over Ken State last week
  • The game's stadium will be considered a neutral site despite being 25 miles down the road in Denver. The Buffaloes are 55-35-5 all-time, the last 19 were against Colorado State in the Rocky Mountain Showdown (1998-2019).
  • Freshman quarterbacks Brendon Lewis of the Buffaloes and Haynes King of the Aggies square off. Lewis has thrown for 102 yards and 1 touchdown with no interceptions and a 66.7% completion rate to start the season. He also has 44 yards on the ground. King has thrown for 292 yards and two touchdowns with 3 interceptions and a 61.10% completion rate. He also gas 22 yards on the ground.
  • Each team had a big run games last week. The Buffaloes saw four different running backs scoring led by sophomore Jarek Broussard (last year's Pac 12 offensive player of the year) who rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown. The Aggies saw running backs Devon Achane and Isiah Spiller each rush for over 100 yards last week.
  • Junior CB Mekhi Blackmon leads the Buffaloes with 5 tackles. Graduate linebacker Aaron Hansford leas the Aggies with 8 tackles 

Ralphie VI 
Following last week's debut, Ralphie VI will not lead the team onto the field this afternoon. Program manager Taylor Stratton was pleased with her two runs against Texas A&M, but does not want to deviate Ralphie from her normal pattern run this early in her training but she will be back next week for the Minnesota game. 
Uniforms: Colorado will be wearing the traditional jerseys with black jerseys, gold pants and gold helmets for the second straight week.
Captains: Colorado captains for this afternoon are Blackmon, junior WR Jaylon Jackson, senior LB Nate Landman and junior TE Brady Russell. 
Weather: 96 degrees Fahrenheit with a few clouds.
Coin Toss: Colorado wins coin toss and defers to second half. Colorado will defend the South goal.

4Q CU TURNOVER ON DOWNS: The Buffs then could not move the ball on their final possession, turning the ball over on downs with just 1:40 left on the clock.
4Q A&M TOUCHDOWN: Texas A&M drives to the CU red zone after a CU punt, then gets an 18-yard TD pass from Calzada to Spiller for a 10-7 A&M lead. Drive covers 77 yards in 11 plays.
4Q: COLORADO PUNT: After a missed opportunity on offense Watts punts the ball for 45-yards, Returned by Ainias Smith to A&M 23 yard line. 1st and 10 A&M at their own 23. 7:50 left in the 4th quarter. score still 7-3 Buffs.
4Q: TEXAS A&M TURNOVER: 13-yard run, by Calzada fumbles in the end zone for a touchback and 15-yard facemask penalty. Aggies fail to score. Gives Colorado an unexpected 1st and 10 from their 35-yard line. 8:15 left to play.
4Q: COLORADO PUNT: Watts Punt returned for 13 yards by Ainias but called back due to 2 blocks in the back. Pins the Aggies back. 1st and 10 at their own 13.

END OF THIRD QUARTER: Colorado still leads 7-3. Both teams really struggling to get their pass games going after their strong run games have been grounded by two explosive defensive performances. Neither team managed to get anything going offensively in the third quarter as each possession ended in a punt for both teams. 

3Q: TEXAS A&M PUNT: Following a pass breakup by Robert Barnes, Constantinou punts the ball 39 yards. Fair caught at Colorado 12. 1st and 10 Colorado at their own 12. 1:50 to play in the 3rd quarter.

2Q: HALFTIME: Buffaloes Ran the clock out. Buffaloes lead Aggies at the half 7-3. A low-scoring first half between the two teams ends. Brandon Lewis finishes the first half passing for 66 yards going 8-13 with 1 interception while leading the team with 67 yards rushing. All Pac-12 senior linebacker Nate Landman led the punishing defensive effort on what had been a strong Texas A&M offense ranked 4th in the FBS in total offense going into the game. Landman recorded 5 tackles, two of which were for a loss and 1 pass breakup. Texas A&M was held to just 29-yards rushing in the first half after putting averaging 303 in the previous week. So far Colorado is shocking the college football world as going into the game Texas A&M were Oddsmakers 17-point favorites.

1Q: END OF FIRST QUARTER: Colorado rushed for 67 yards and and quarterback Brandon Lewis passed for 41 yards, and rushed for a team leading 48 yards in the quarter. Broussard rushed for 19-yards and gave Colorado a 7-0 lead with a two-yard power run up the middle for a touchdown.
