Arizona Athletics Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Night
TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Athletics' annual Hispanic Heritage Night celebration is set for Arizona Football's home game versus NAU on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. MST inside Arizona Stadium. This tradition of celebrating the rich and vibrant Hispanic culture of Southern Arizona will include special activities throughout the day on the campus of the University of Arizona.
"Arizona Athletics' annual celebration of our community's cultural diversity and heritage begins this week with Hispanic Heritage Night at Arizona Stadium. It is important to honor our community's proud identity in conjunction with campus and community partners, including the Adalberto and Ana Guerrero Student Center, Visit Tucson and the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. We will see pregame and in-game performances from terrific folklorico dancers and mariachis joining the Pride of Arizona. By embracing and celebrating our dynamic community, our athletics department continues its support of the University of Arizona's commitment to harness the power of diversity."
The day's festivities begin with the Coca-Cola Fan Fiesta, which opens inside the Cole and Jeannie Davis Sports Center at 4 p.m. MST and will include live entertainment from Hispanic musical acts and performers. Hispanic Heritage stickers will be passed out in the tailgating area while supplies last. The ZonaZoo Tailgate opens at 2:30 p.m. MST at the southwest corner of Cherry and University where they will host a variety of Hispanic and Latinx student groups.
Prior to kickoff, there will be a check presentation, to student leaders from the Adalberto and Ana Guerrero Student Center for donations made through the university's cultural logo project. Mariachi bands will welcome fans as they enter the gates of Arizona Stadium with special in-game performances planned to cap off Hispanic Heritage Night.
