BOULDER -- Volleyball's Brynna DeLuzio and men's golf's Jack Hughes were named CU-Student Athletes of the Week presented by Arrow for the time period of September 6-12. For DeLuzio, it's her second consecutive honor.
DeLuzio had a team-high 50 digs in CU's three weekend wins over Texas Tech (3-1), San Jose State (3-0) and Northern Colorado (3-1). The Buffs won the Buffs Invitational which they hosted and are 7-0 on the season, off to the best start in program history.
Hughes, a freshman, won his first collegiate golf tournament taking the medalist honors at the Gene Miranda Falcon Individual Tournament at the Eisenhower Golf Club. He shot 7-under par 209 becoming just the fourth CU freshman to win a collegiate golf tournament and just the second to do so in his first college tournament.
Buffs volleyball will play a series against Colorado State this Thursday in Boulder and on Saturday in Fort Collins.
CU golf will get back in action at the William Tucker Invitational in Albuquerque September 24-25 before hosting the Mark Simpson Invitational at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie on September 27-28.
