Men’s Tennis Announces Fall Schedule
SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah men's tennis team is set to open on its 2021 fall schedule on September 21-25 at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships in Provo, Utah. The Utes are slated for six tournaments this fall.
Utah will compete in singles and doubles during the ITA Regional. The regional doubles champion and the regional singles champion and finalists qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships, from November 4-7 in San Diego, California.
After a successful 2021 spring season that saw the Utes go 18-12, the Utes are ready to head back to the courts. Last season, Utah did not play in the fall because of COVID-19. Following the ITA Regionals, the Utes will compete at the Idaho State Invitational in Pocatello, Idaho, from October 1-3, 2021.
The Utah Men's Tennis program, under Head Coach Roeland Brateanu, will also have two competitors at the ITA Men's All-American Championships. The championships will take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from October 2-10, 2021. Utah's Franco Capalbo, 98th in singles in ITA rankings, qualified for the Singles Main Draw. Teammate Geronimo Busleiman qualified for the Singles Qualifying Draw. Busleiman and Capalbo are doubles partners, ranked 34th by the ITA, and will also compete in the doubles draw.
The squad will come home for the Utah Invitational, set to take place at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City from October 7-10, 2021, before hitting the road again. From November 4-7, Utah men who qualify will compete at the ITA Fall Nationals at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
The Fall season will close out with the LMU Invitational at the LMU Tennis Center in Los Angeles from November 11-14, 2021. The Utes will head home after the LMU Invitational to prepare for the highly anticipated spring season.
