Gonzaga Beats Arizona in Non-Conference Finale

Sep 16, 2021

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Arizona Wildcats (3-0-4) were shutout 1-0 by Gonzaga (8-1-0) in their final non-conference match of the season. After a scoreless first half that resulted in Arizona being out shot 17-4 and keeper Hope Hisey racking in 8 saves, the Bulldogs came out with the game-winner in the 58th minute. The second half saw a shot total of 13-5 Gonzaga with Hisey picking up another 6 saves.

Both junior Madison Goerlinger and red-shirt senior Sabrina Enciso got within inches of equalizing the match. Enciso had a close call with the Bulldog keeper as her ball was barely swept away. Goerlinger came back with an even closer attempt as her ball ricocheted off the very edge cross bar.

After setting a single-match career high of 11 saves on Sunday, junior keeper Hope Hisey came back 4 days later and tallied 14 against the Bulldogs. This is the most saves Hisey has had in a single match in her time at Arizona.
