Sep 16, 2021

OLYMPIA FIELDS, ILL. – No. 19 Arizona Men's Golf will look to rekindle some Wildcat magic when it tees off in the Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club, beginning on Friday, Sept. 17. The team will compete on the same course where Wildcat great, Jim Furyk, won the 2003 U.S. Open. Arizona is part of a loaded field that includes seven of the top 12 teams in the GolfStat rankings.

"It's a special opportunity to compete on a course that holds a special place in Arizona Golf history," said head coach Jim Anderson. "We are part of a great field of teams that will play some terrific golf over the weekend, and I look forward to seeing our team compete and build off of last week's play at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate."

Arizona will travel a lineup of a graduate senior, three juniors and a sophomore in Christian Banke, Chaz Aurilia, Aidric Chan, Chase Sienkiewicz and Sam Sommerhauser. The duo of Sommerhauser and Banke finished in the top 10 of last week's event with scores of 13-under and 12-under respectively.

This week's tournament will be played on Olympia Fields Country Club's North Course, which is 7,205 yards in length at a par of 70. Participants will begin teeing off at 6 a.m. (MST) for Friday's opening round.
