Buffs Fall In Second Day At Battle In The Bay

SAN FRANCISCO - After a successful first day, Colorado women's tennis fell in singles and doubles on day two here at the Battle in the Bay Classic Friday.
 
After her Buff debut win yesterday, Caroline Pozo battled against No.66 Morgan Coppoc of Georgia, but ultimately lost the tight match in a third-set tiebreak after splitting the first two sets. Pozo took the first set 6-4, then lost the second 7-5. The two battled but ultimately ended with a 9-7 advantage in the tiebreaker.
 
Maria Campos would also go on to lose to No.79 Paola Exposito Diaz Delgado of VCU in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Both of the opponents advanced to the semifinals and will face one another.
 
In doubles, Pozo and teammate Megan Forster fell to the No. 3-ranked team in the tournament Zaar/Redelijk of Pepperdine 8-5. Campos played with Mya Bui of USF after Sophia Derivan was unable to make the trip. Campos/Bui lost to the No.1 overall seed in the doubles against Grant/Kowalowski of Georgia 8-2.
 
The Buffs still have action in the backdraws where both double teams will compete again and Megan Forster will compete in singles.
