BOISE, Idaho – Oregon State volleyball fell to Santa Clara in three sets (21-25, 21-25, 18-25) on Friday morning in a neutral site match in Bronco Gym in Boise, Idaho. With the loss, the Beavers fall to 2-7 on the season, and the Broncos improve to 4-6.
Junior Lindsey Schell led the Beavers offensively with 11 kills off 25 total attacks. She also finished with three blocks to bring her career total to 270. Freshmen Mychael Vernon and Kateryna Tkachenko followed with nine and seven kills, respectively. Izzi Szulczewski tallied 30 of OSU's 31 assists with DiLara Unal picking up the other. Szulczewski also paced the Beavers with four blocks. Freshman Ryan White saw her first appearance at libero this season, shifting to the position prior to the second set and led OSU with 12 digs.
Santa Clara was led by Michelle Shaffer and Julia Sangiacomo, who finished with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Both also added five blocks. As a team, the Broncos finished with 36 kills and 14 blocks.
Match Notes:
- Vernon finished the match with nine digs, the second-most for OSU.
- Schell led OSU in kills for the fourth time this season.
- Three Beavers recorded an ace during the match: Tkachenko, Szulzcewski and Iris Coba.
- Szulczewski led OSU with four digs, while Schell, Vernon and Madison Kelly each added three.
