OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Behind a 1-under 69 from sixth-year senior Henry Shimp, Stanford men's golf shot a 4-over 284 on Saturday and moved up two spots into a tie for seventh at the Fighting Illini Invitational. Shimp improved by six strokes over round one and moved up 24 spots on the leaderboard.
Sophomores Michael Thorbjorsen (even) and Karl Vilips (+1) had strong days also and both sit inside the top 25. Thorbjornsen leads the Cardinal, tied for ninth with a two-day total of 141 (+1).
The third and final round at Olympia Fields Country Club will begin at 5:30 a.m. PT on Sunday.
