Wildcats Wrap Up Trip Out East at Illini Invite

Sep 19, 2021

OLYMPIA FIELDS, ILL. – No. 19 Arizona Men's Golf wrapped up the Fighting Illini Invite with its best round of the event at 12-over to finish in 14th place at 41-over par. Graduate senior Christian Banke carded the lowest round on Sunday for Arizona for the second time at the tournament with a 1-over round after sinking three birdies in the course's first seven holes.

"Our weekend was a learning experience for our program," said head coach Jim Anderson. "The weekend was valuable for our entire lineup to play a challenging course away from the desert golf environment as much of our fall and spring schedule is outside of Arizona. Our team is a focused group, and I know everybody took something away from our time in Illinois."

Banke would go on to be Arizona's top finisher at Olympia Fields at 7-over for the tournament and in a tie for 32nd. Aidric Chan carded back-to-back rounds of 73 to end the tournament as Arizona's second top scorer in a tie for 42nd place.

Arizona's fall will continue its out-of-state run with the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Arkansas, beginning on Monday, Oct. 4.
