Cal Softball Announces Fall Ball Schedule
BERKELEY - The California softball team will play eight games during its 2021 fall ball season, as announced by the program on Monday.
The Golden Bears start the fall schedule on Saturday, Sept. 25, with a double header at West Valley College. Cal plays San Jose State at 12:30 p.m. and West Valley College at 3 p.m. No fans will be allowed at Saturday's games.
The next day on Sunday, Sept. 26, Cal hosts the College of San Mateo at noon at Levine-Fricke Field.
A triple header will take place at Levine-Fricke Field on Sunday, Oct. 3. Cal kicks off the day playing Cal State East Bay at 10 a.m., followed by its second game of the day against Sacramento City College at 12:30. Cal State East Bay and Sacramento City College will play each other in the third game at 3 p.m. to close out the day.
On Sunday, Oct. 10, Cal heads to UC Davis for a neutral-site game against Nevada-Reno at 3:30 p.m.
The fall ball season concludes on Sunday, Oct. 17, at Sacramento State. The Bears will play the host Hornets at 10 a.m. and Cal State Monterey at 12:30 p.m.
Cal completed the 2021 season with an overall record of 17-20. The Bears enjoyed wins over Stanford, Fresno State and a series victory over Utah, taking three out of four games against the Utes. The Bears return All-Pac-12 Third Team selection Makena Smith after she paced the Bears with a .573 slugging percentage, and also led her squad in multiple categories, including home runs (8), RBI (23) and hits (36).
