Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at the 2021 Badger Invitational
MADISON, Wis. –Washington State women's golfer Madelyn Gamble posted a third-place finish in her Cougar debut, as the freshman carded an even par; 216 through three rounds at the 2021 Badger Invitational to help WSU finish fifth as a team.
Gamble capped off her fantastic Washington State debut by carding two-over par; 74 in Tuesday's third round to finish in a tie for third on the player leaderboard with Kennedy Pedigo and Katie James of SMU. The highlight of the tournament for Gamble came in Monday's second round, where she shot four-under par; 68.
As a team, Washington State posted a fifth-place finish at the 2021 Badger Invitational. The Cougars shot 883 (+19) during their three-day stay at the University Golf Club in Madison, Wisconsin, and concluded their first tournament of the fall by carding 298 (+10) in Tuesdays' third round.
Fellow freshman Emily Cadwell also had a spectacular debut to her WSU career, as the Boise, Idaho native finished in a tie for 14th on the player leaderboard after shooting five-over par; 221 through three rounds. Cadwell and senior Darcy Habgood tied for the best third-round score for WSU, as each golfer carded a 73 (+1) in their final round of play. Habgood collected a team-best four birdies in the third round, while Cadwell and Gamble each posted three birdies in the round.
Junior Jiye Ham and senior Amy Chu rounded out the team scoring for WSU at the 2021 Badger Invitational, as Ham finished in a tie for 33rd, while Chu wrapped up play in a tie for 48th. Senior Jessie Lin, who was playing as an individual, conclude her three rounds at the University Ridge Golf Club by carding 236 (+20).
SMU captured the team title at the 2021 Badger Invitational, as the Mustangs shot 875 (+11) over three rounds. Old Dominion's Federica Torre captured the individual title, as she carded three-under par; 216 during her three days at the University Ridge Golf Club.
Washington State will return to action next week, as the Cougars head to Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colorado to play in the 2021 GolfWeek Conference Challenge.
