Utah Swim & Dive Welcomes BYU For Relay Exhibition Event Friday Night
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah swimming and diving will kick off its season this Friday at 5 p.m. MT with its annual exhibition relay meet against BYU. The event marks the first time since 2019 that the relay exhibition event has been held after missing out on last year's meet due to the pandemic.
"The team is so excited to be able to get back to a more normal start to our season with what is always one of the most fun events of the year," said head coach Joe Dykstra. "The opportunity to do all relays, some non-traditional events including coed relays, is a great way to establish team spirit and a competitive edge for the year."
The relay meet is unique because it is not a typical competition and features an array of 3x50 relays, coed relays, as well as divers running relays. The event will take place at the Ute Natatorium and is free admission for fans. Masks are strongly encouraged for those in attendance. Parking for the meet will be in the lot north of the natatorium accessed via Student Life Way.
Looking Ahead
Both the men's and women's teams will begin regular season conference action on Friday, Oct. 15 with a home meet against Stanford. The following weekend, Utah will host California and then hit the road for a dual meet at UNLV to kick off the season.
The annual dual meeting between Utah and BYU will take place in Provo this year on Friday and Saturday, January 28-29.
