Buffs Duo Advance To Consolation Finals

USAFA – It was a busy Saturday for the Colorado women's tennis team as the women were in action in both singles and doubles play here for the third day of The Bedford Cup.
 
In singles play, both Antonia Balzert and Mila Stanojevic advance in their semifinal matches today to set up an all Buff clash in the final of the Alpha West consolation draw. Balzert advanced to the finals after her opponent Sol O Lideadha of Idaho State withdrew due to injury. Balzert will take on Stanejovic after she won a tough three set match over Hana Cho of Idaho State. Stanojevic took the first set 6-2, then dropped the second 6-4 and had to come back and win a third set tiebreaker 10-8.
 
Also for Colorado, Betina Tokac fell in the semifinal match of the Bravo East main draw to Britt Pursell of Denver 6-1, 7-6 (5). Ky Ecton also went on to lose in her semifinal match of the Bravo West consolation draw. Ecton lost to Idaho State's Lola O Lideadha 6-0, 6-4. In addition, Ellen Puzak was defeated in her singles match by JJ Chen of Montana State 6-4, 6-2 in the Charlie South Consolation draw.
 
Moving to doubles, Ecton and Puzak played lights out today as they won two matches to reach the final in the Doubles Alpha West Consolation draw. The duo defeated Flodin/Stelse of Air Force 6-4 and then went on to defeat Natal/Richterova of CSU 6-2. They will play in the west consolation final tomorrow against Oreshkina/Malinak of Wyoming, who beat the team of Balzert and Stanojevic earlier today 6-4.
 
Colorado has a busy final day tomorrow in the Bedford Cup with three doubles matches and three singles matches.
