Against a lineup of Buckeyes and one Bulldog on Friday (Sept. 24), USC was unable to net a doubles win, but got a lift in singles from #68 Stefan Dostanic's upset win over Ohio State's #20 Matej Vocel. So, too, did Peter Makk notch a win over a ranked opponent with his straight-set decision over #99 JJ Tracy. Meanwhile, Ryder Jackson pulled out a three-set win over Lancelot Carnello on day one of action in Athens.
On Saturday (Sept. 24), USC dominated doubles with three new tandems in the mix. Victorious on the day were Bradley Frye and Makk, as well as Paul Barretto and Dostanic, and also Jackson and Samuel Rubell as three USC veterans paired with new Trojans against Texas opponents. In singles, Dostanic rang up yet another upset win with a takedown of the Longhorns' #58 Siem Woldeab. The other Trojan singles winner on the day was Barretto, who collected a smooth win over Eshan Talluri.
The final day of play saw the Trojans square off against the host Bulldogs. In doubles, Barretto and Jackson scored their first win together with a gutsy 8-6 decision. In singles, both Makk and Jackson emerged victorious again, with Makk completing a fierce comeback to beat Georgia's #23 Hamish Stewart in three sets. Meanwhile, Jackson would score another straight-set win during Sunday's final stretch of competition.
