SEASIDE, Calif. – Freshman Zoe Antoinette Campos sits atop the leader board with a 1-under 143 after the first two rounds of The Molly Collegiate Invitational at The Bayonet on Monday. As a team, UCLA is tied in first place with San Jose State at +15, 591.
The Bruins and Spartans are six strokes ahead of third-place Stanford (+21, 597). Oregon State (+23, 599) and Cal (+25, 601) round out the Top 5 teams on day one.
Campos holed three of her four birdies in round one on the par-4 11th, par-4 13th and par-3 14th holes en route to a back nine score of 33. Campos finished the round 2-under 70. In the second set of 18, Campos birded three more times on the par-4 3rd, par-3 4th and par-3 17th holes, finishing at 1-over 73.
Freshman Alessia Nobilio – who competed in her first rounds of collegiate golf today – sits in the Top 10 at 2-over 146 at seventh place alongside senior Simar Singh who is tied in 10th place.
Nobilio bogeyed twice, but finished the first round with the first birdie of her career on the par-5 18th. She birdied twice more in round two on the par-4 3rd and par-4 12th holes to put her three strokes behind the leader, Campos.
After shooting 5-over 77 in her first round of the day, Singh birdied twice on the par-5 1st and 8th holes and twice more on par-4s to put her at 1-over 73 in the second round.
Redshirt sophomore Ty Akabane also scored 1-over 73 in round one following a birdie on the par-5 10th and two bogeys later in the round. Akbane birdied once in round two before finishing +7, 79. Junior Annabel Wilson played her first two rounds of the year, scoring 81 and 84, respectively.
The Bruins look to close out their first tournament victory of the season when they tee off tomorrow at The Bayonet in Seaside, Calif., at 1 p.m. PT. Live scoring is available on the UCLA women's golf schedule.
