WACO, Texas- Head coach Ryan Stotland and the women's tennis team head to Baylor for their first tournament of the fall season. The Wildcats will be taking seven players, including four freshman and one transfer participating in their first fall tournament as Wildcats.
Seniors Khim Iglupas and Kirsten Prelle headline the lineup for the Wildcats in thier first tournament. In her last fall season, Prelle was 6-5 in both singles and doubles. Prelle was unable to play last year due to an injury. Last season, Iglupas finished second on the team with 15 singles wins while tying for the lead in doubles wins with a 13-7 record.
Graduate transfer Salma Ziouti will be competing in her first season as a Wildcat after three years at Drexel University, where she finished with a 58-23 singles record and 42-28 in doubles. Freshman Mary Grace Armistead has experience in the tournament format as she reached the semifinals in singles and doubles of the Eddie Herr International Junior Championship and in singles of the USTA National Level 2 tournament.
Other freshman Wildcats have experienced tournament success, with Parker Fry reaching semifinals of the USTA National Level 3 tournament and Kayla Meraz winning the USTA National Level 2 tournament in 2019.
The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. MST on Thursday with doubles matches against Baylor and Texas A&M before competing in singles against the Aggies.
