SEASIDE, Calif. - Freshman Rose Zhang shot a 4-under 68 to capture the individual title in her first career event, leading Stanford women's golf to the team title at The Molly Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Zhang's classmate, Caroline Sturdza, fired a 5-under 67 to finish tied for second and propel the Cardinal to a seven-shot victory at Bayonet Golf Course. Stanford entered the day six strokes behind co-leaders San Jose State and UCLA, but a 6-under 282 was the best score in the field by seven strokes, and 12 strokes better than both the Bruins and Spartans.

Senior Aline Krauter shot a 2-under 70 to move into a tie for eighth, her 16th career Top 20 and ninth career Top 10.

This is Stanford's sixth win in a multi-day, stroke play event in the calendar year 2021 and its seventh individual win - all by true freshmen. Rachel Heck won six times as a freshmen in the shortened, 2021 spring season. Stanford also won the Molly Intercollegiate in 2019, with Andrea Lee taking home the individual title and freshman Angelina Ye finishing second.
