Sun Devils Ready to Run at Dave Murray Invitational

TEMPE – ASU's cross country team is set to run in the second race of the season Friday morning. The Sun Devils head down to Tucson for Arizona's Dave Murray Invitational at the Rolling Hills Golf Club. ASU will run against San Diego State, Arizona and New Mexico State. The women's 6k begins at 7:00 a.m. and the men's 8k goes at 7:45 a.m. Fans are welcome to watch the race.

In the first meet of the season at UC Riverside in the UC Riverside Invite, six Sun Devils placed in the top-50, including a third-place finish from Vincent Mauri. Four veteran Devils recorded personal-bests that meet as well.
 
Mauri placed third in the men's 8k with a time of 23:44.8, and seniors Joseph Dicke (24:26.3) and Adam Meyer (25:20.0) along with sophomore Garrett McSheffrey (26:09.6) had personal records.
 
On the women's side, freshman Hayden Sparks recorded the highest placement for ASU at 33rd with a time of 21:23.9 and was followed closely by Caitlin Rose (21:43.3) and Gracie Carr (21:44.9).
 
Following the Dave Murray Invite, Sun Devils Cross Country will compete in the NCAA pre-nationals meet in Tallahassee, Fla. on Oct. 15 and the Pac-12 cross country championships on Oct. 29 in Salt Lake City, Utah. ASU will then finish its season with the NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento, Calif. on Nov. 15 and the NCAA Championships also in Tallahassee on Nov. 29.
