Beavers Fall at No. 19 Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Oregon State volleyball fell to No. 19 Utah in three sets (18-25, 19-25, 13-25) on Friday night in the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City. With the loss, OSU falls to 2-11 overall and 0-3 in Pac-12 play, while the Utes improve to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
 
Freshman Kateryna Tkachenko led Oregon State for the third straight match offensively finishing with 11 kills. Lindsey Schell and Maddie Goings followed with six kills each. Izzi Szulczewski was the lone Beaver to record an assist and finished with 27 to bring her season total to 376. Szulczewski also led OSU with nine digs, while Ellie Turner followed with six. As a team, Oregon State finished with 97 total attacks in comparison to only 82 by Utah.
 
Utah was led offensively by Dani Drews and Madelyn Robinson who finished with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. As a team, Utah hit .293 and recorded nine blocks en route to shutting down the Beavers.
 
Match Notes

  • Six Beavers finished with at least one kill to bring the match total to 31.
  • Freshman Vivian Light finished with a solo block and a block assist to tie for the team high with DiLara Unal as each recorded two blocks. Szulczewski was the only other Beaver to record a block.
  • Grace Massey picked up a service ace in her return to the court after missing three matches due to injury.
  • Szulczewski finished with three kills off four total attacks with no errors to lead OSU in hit percentage.
