MJ Lopez Aguirre to Represent Mexico at Elite National Championships
COZUMEL, Mex. -- Freshman MJ Lopez Aguirre will compete in The Triatlón AsTri Cozumel 2021 for the Elite National Championships on Saturday, Oct. 2 representing her home country, Mexico.
She is the first Mexican to be recruited for the Sun Devil Triathlon squad.
This Premiere National Series event will take place in Mexico's largest island in the Caribbean, Cozumel. The isle is best known for its natural landscapes, Mayan culture, and the world-famous coral reef.
Lopez Aguirre will participate in the Triatlón Elite, which involves a 1,500m swimming race, a 40km bike trail and a 10km run against the best triathletes from Mexico including World Series and Olympic competitors.
The swimming course will begin at Park Chankanaab, and after the bike trail and the run, which will go through the Hotel Presidente, the finish line will be located at the starting point.
This particular race is a qualifier for the Junior Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia and Junior World Championships in Quarteira, Portugal in November, representing Mexico.
