Bears Complete Play At SMC Fall Invite

Cami Brown and the Bears wrapped up play in the Gaels' tournament on Sunday.

MORAGA, Calif. – The California women's tennis team finished play at the Saint Mary's Fall Invitational on Sunday at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex.
 
In the top-flight singles semifinals, Cal's Erin Richardson fell to Colorado's Antonia Balzert, 6-2, 6-2, while in the A-flight doubles back draw final, Richardson and Cami Brown lost to Sara Tsukamoto and Carly Schwartberg of UC Davis, 8-5.
 
In extra singles matches on Sunday, Cal's 106th-ranked Julia Rosenqvist dropped a 6-4, 7-5 result to Fresno State's Pang Jittakoat, and Brown fell to Pacific's Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle, 6-4, 6-3.
 
On Monday in Charleston, South Carolina, three Bears start play in qualifying singles in the ITA All-American Championships. Freshman Jessica Alsola, one of several No. 9 seeds in the draw, faces Wisconsin's 113th-ranked Xinyu Cai at 9 a.m. ET; junior Valentina Ivanov – who's ranked 119th – takes on Arizona State's Patricija Spaka (also a No. 9 seed) at 12 p.m. ET; and sophomore Hannah Viller Moeller also plays at 12 p.m. ET against Tulsa's Shura Poppe.
