SAN FRANCISCO – Oregon State inside linebacker Avery Roberts has been named the Pac-12's Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The honor comes two days after Roberts, a Wilmington, Del., native, recorded 16 tackles in the Beavers' 27-24 win over Washington. Roberts added on his first career interception and half a sack to his statistical line.
The 16 tackles are second-most for him in his career at Oregon State, five shy of his 21-tackle performance at Utah in 2020. The 16 tackles also pushed Roberts into the Pac-12 lead with 51 on the season, which also ranks seventh nationally.
The honor is the first of Roberts' career and he is the first Beaver defender to be recognized by the Pac-12 since Manase Hungalu in 2017.
Roberts and the Beavers visit Washington State Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. PT and the game will air live on the Pac-12 Network
