Bling Leads UCLA After Day One of Blessings Collegiate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Graduate Devon Bling shot a two-under 70 to lead the Bruins in round one of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Monday. UCLA is in eighth place at 5-over 293 and is 15 strokes behind the course host, first place Arkansas (-10, 278).
 
Bling is three strokes behind the individual leader Luke Long from Arkansas (-5, 67). Two other Razorbacks are a stroke behind long, tied for second place.
 
Bling birdied five total times in his round on the par-3 3rd, par-4 6th, par-4 11th, par-3 13th and par-5 15th to best his three bogeys.
 
Graduate Eddy Lai and freshman Pablo Ereño Perez are tied for 26th (+2, 74). Ereño Perez, who made his collegiate debut this morning, birdied twice on the par-3 3rd and par-4 4th. Lai birdied four times and went even par on the front nine, but a bogey and double-bogey on the par-4 11th and par-3 17th put him at 2-over on the day.
 
Sophomore Alvaro Muller Baumgart Lucena also took to the links for the first time in a Bruin uniform after not seeing action last season. He holed four birdies but bogeyed eight to score 3-over 75 on day one.
 
Rounding out the Bruin five was Bryan Teoh who shot a 5-over 77 with three birdies, six bogeys and double bogey.
 
UCLA tees off round two of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. PT. The event will be available for viewing beginning at 12 p.m. PT on the Golf Channel.
