Monday was a long day of golf for the Sun Devil men's and women's golf teams at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, OH, in the first Barbara Nicklaus Cup, but it was a productive one.
The Sun Devils notched four points vs. Auburn in mixed foursomes on Monday afternoon after winning two matches against host Ohio State in the morning.
"Our two programs had a solid day that we are excited to build off of," Women's Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye remarked. "Playing 36 holes was a great experience, helping prepare us for what could come at NCAA Championships."
Total points is how the tournament winner is decided, so ASU posted 7.5 points on the day -- there were three ties vs. Auburn -- with eight singles matches on tap for tomorrow against Florida State.
A total of eight points per match is available. Each school will play the other three schools in one of the three sessions and the school with the most points at the end of the three sessions wins the event.
Getting wins vs. Auburn were the Preston Summerhays/Calynne Rosholt (6&5), Kiko Coelho/Breyana Matthews (2 up), Alexandra Forsterling (1 up) and Mason Andersen (3&2).
Camerson Sisk/Ashley Menne got a 5&4 win vs. Ohio State in the morning, while Calynne Rosholt won 2&1.
