CHARLESTON, S.C. – Utah women's tennis player Madeline Lamoreaux opened up play at the ITA All-American Championship on Monday morning.
"Madeline played quality tennis today against a good player," Head Coach Ric Mortera stated. "Certainly, some great match situations for us to learn from and overall a good battle for Madeline to start her fall season. We are looking forward to continuing to work on some adjustments with her game."
Lamoreaux participated in the qualifying draw where she was matched up against her opponent, Ahmeir Kyle from Xavier University. Kyle is ranked 100th in the ITA singles rankings.
The Ute came out and won the first six 6-4 over Kyle. However, Lamoreaux couldn't win one of the following two sets, 4-6, 2-6, and would fall to Kyle in three sets.
Lamoreaux will get her second chance at victory on Tuesday at 9 a.m., in the Qualifying Consolation round against UCF's Evgeniya Levashova. Complete draws can be found by clicking here.
