Cindy Kou Ties For Fifth To Lead USC Women's Golf At Windy City Collegiate
Freshman Xin (Cindy) Kou fired a final-round 68 and posted her second top 5 finish a row to start her collegiate career to highlight the USC women's golf team as the Windy City Collegiate wrapped play Tuesday (Oct. 5) at the Westmoreland C.C. in Wilmette, Ill.
Stanford won the event at 14-over 878. USC took 14th at 66-over 930 (300-315-315).
Kou tied for fifth at 3-over 219 (72-79-68), shaving off 11 strokes from her second round despite having to start early this morning to finish her final three holes.
Kou, who tied for third at the ANNIKA Invitational, went out at 1-under and then birdied three of her final five holes to secure the top 5 finish thanks to her third 68 of the season and fourth round of par or better. Only three players in the 84-woman field broke par.
Senior Katherine Muzi tied for 43rd at 14-over 230 (72-75-83) while sophomore Brianna Navarrosa tied for 52nd at 16-over 232 (77-74-81).
Junior Alexa Melton tied for 80th at 35-over 251 (79-88-84) and sophomore Christine Wang was 83rd at 43-over 259 (89-87-83).
USC returns to action Oct. 15-17 at the Stanford Intercollegiate.
