Bruins Finish Ninth at the Blessings

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The UCLA men's golf team concluded the final round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday with a 9-over 297 to place ninth in the ten-team field with a final score of 15-over 879. Course host Arkansas finished in first place at 18-under 846, 14 strokes ahead of second-place Illinois and Arizona.
 
Ole Miss, Tennessee and North Carolina rounded out the top 5 teams who all finished under par.
 
Graduate Devon Bling was the Bruins' top finisher in the tournament with a 3-over 219, tied for 20th. Bling shot a 2-over 74 in his final round with five birdies on the par-5 2nd, par-3 3rd, par-5 5th, par-4 12th and par-3 13th. Bling double bogeyed twice in the round.
 
Arkansas' Luke Long was the 2021 Blessings Collegiate Invitational Individual Champion after a 11-under 205 performance in his three rounds. His teammate Mateo Fernandez De Oliveira placed second at 8-under 208. Oliveira holed an ace on the par-3 13th in his final round.
 
Senior Bryan Teoh tied for 25th at 5-over 221 after shooting a pair of even-par 72s in his first tournament of the season. Teoh birdied three times on the par-4 6th, par-4 12th and par-4 16th. Graduate Eddie Lai finished a stroke behind Teoh at 6-over 222 after going 6-over on the day.
 
Sophomore Alvaro Muller Baumgart Lucena recorded his best round of the tournament on day three with a 1-over 73 featuring four birdies on the front nine. Lucena placed tied for 32nd in the field at 7-over 223.
 
Freshman Pablo Ereño Perez finished 12-over 228 with two birdies on the par-5 15th and par-3 17th in round three.
 
The Bruins compete in their second of three tournaments in the fall season next week at the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno, Nev., beginning Monday, Oct. 11, and ending Tuesday, Oct. 12.
