Cats Make More Moves Up Leaderboards at Blessings

Oct 6, 2021

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arizona Women's Golf posted the second-lowest team score, 1-over par, on Wednesday to wrap up the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in fourth place at 25-over par. Junior Vivian Hou carded the second-lowest score of all players in the third round with a 69 to finish the tournament as Arizona's top individual in 13th place at 5-over par.

"We played a really solid round yesterday and came out and shot even lower scores today," said head coach Laura Ianello. "Our entire team made adjustments throughout the week and improved each round. I am proud of how our ladies kept competing and battling a tough course to finish towards the top of the leaderboards."

Hou's 5-over score for the event was lowest of a balanced lineup of scores as all five Wildcats on the trip finished within seven strokes of one another. Arizona had top-25 showings from Carolina Melgrati (T-15th), Lilas Pinthier (T-18th) and Yu-Sang Hou (T-23rd) with scores of 6-over, 7-over and 10-over par respectively. Junior Gile Bite Starkute, who led the team in scoring with an even par round of 72 on Tuesday, finished just outside the top 25 in 27th place at 12-over.

The Cats made their moves throughout the week by posting strong scores on par 3's, finishing second behind host Arkansas at 2-over on Blessing's shortest holes.

Arizona will return to action for a second consecutive nationally-televised event when it participates in the prestigious East Lake Cup in Illinois October 25 to 27 on Golf Channel.
