Chidekh Opens With Ranked Win At ITA All-Americans

Oct 6, 2021

TULSA, Okla. -- Clement Chidekh opened his second Husky season in style today with a first round win in the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships, defeating a Pac-12 rival as well. The All-Pac-12 First Teamer is through to the round of 32 in the national singles tourney with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jonas Eriksson Ziverts of Arizona, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.

This is the first major individual tourney appearance for Chidekh since entering the NCAA last season. He was automatically accepted into the main draw in part thanks to a stellar summer of results on the ATP Challenger Tour back in his native France. Chidekh, ranked 72nd in the ITA preseason rankings, got a top-40 win to start his year, as Ziverts is ranked 32nd nationally.

Next up for Chidekh will be Virginia's Ryan Goetz, who is ranked 77th nationally.
