Nobilio, Bruins Place Second at the Blessings
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The UCLA women's golf team earned a second-place finish at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational (+10, 874) after shooting a collective 6-over 294 in the final round on Wednesday. Freshman Alessia Nobilio picked up her second career Top 5 finish in as many tournament appearances, placing second (E, 216) out of a field of 50.
Redshirt sophomore Ty Akabane tied for fourth at 1-over 217 for her best tournament finish since the 2019 Nanea Pac-12 Preview where she tied for 2nd. Akabane climbed four places on the individual leaderboard with a 1-under 71 performance in round three. After three bogeys through the first four holes, Akabane settled in with a birdie on the par-5 fifth and an eagle on the next hole: the par-4 sixth. She birdied twice on the back nine on the par-5 10th and par-3 17th.
Nobilio placed four strokes behind first place Brook Matthews of Arkansas (-4, 212). After hole 15 on the back nine, Nobilio was just two strokes behind Matthews, but would miss two birdie opportunities on the putting green. She birdied earlier in the round on the par-4 1st and par-4 11th.
The Razorbacks, the course host, were the Blessings Collegiate Invitational champions at 9-under 855 with two players in the Top 2 and four total in the Top 10.
Junior Emma Spitz tied for 11th at 3-over 219. Spitz double bogeyed twice on the front nine, but would go 3-under from hole 9 onwards. She birdied on the par-4 9th, par-5 10th, par-4 14th and par-5 15th.
Freshman Zoe Antoinette Campos tied for tied for 23rd (+10, 226), shooting a 3-over 75 in round three. Freshman Caroline Canales rounded out the Bruins' score, tying for 41st at 19-over 235. She birdied twice on the par-4 1st and par-3 3rd.
UCLA will compete when it returns to the Stanford Intercollegiate next week, beginning on Friday, October 16, and ending Sunday, October 17. The Bruins placed seventh (+15, 867) at the Stanford Intercollegiate in 2019.
