Beavers Defeat Sun Devils, 2-1

CORVALLIS, Ore.  – The Oregon State women's soccer team returned to Lorenz Field for the first time in 20 days to host Arizona State on Thursday, defeating the Sun Devils, 2-1. Oregon State is now 10-2-0 (2-2-0 Pac-12) on the season and is 5-0 at Lorenz Field. 
 
"It's great to return home and get a win on Lorenz," said head coach Lauren Sinacola. "The team had a great mentality all week and it showed in tonight's game. ASU changed some things in the second half that we will learn from that will better prepare us for Sunday's game against Arizona. I'm excited to get back to work with this group." 
 
In the 18th minute of play, the Sun Devils posted an own goal that put the Beavers on the board. Junior Brianna McReynolds found the net with an assist from freshman McKenna Martinez to put the Beavers up 2-0 in the 19th minute of action. McReynolds has scored four goals over the course of the season and Martinez currently leads the team in assists with four. The Beavers maintained a 2-0 lead until Arizona State found the net in the 89th minute to push the final score to 2-1. 
 
Senior Bridgette Skiba earned three saves in goal. The Beavers tallied four shots on goal out of ten shots total and took seven corner kicks. 
 
Up Next
The Beavers will host Arizona on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Lorenz Field. Sunday will also be the Beavers' annual Pups on the Pitch match presented by Toyota.
