Chidekh Into Round Of 16 At ITA All-Americans
TULSA, Okla. – For the first time since 2003, a Husky is through to the round of 16 in singles at the ITA All-American Championships, the first of three national individual tournaments on the college tennis calendar. Clement Chidekh posted a straight-set win for the second consecutive day at the Case Tennis Center, reaching the round of 16 in his first collegiate tourney of any kind.
Chidekh got his second ranked win in as many days, as he beat 77th-ranked Ryan Goetz of Virginia, 6-4, 6-2. His round of 16 opponent will be a Pac-12 foe in USC's Stefan Dostanic, who has come through qualifying. The two will play on Friday and the quarterfinal round will also be held Friday, with semifinals on Saturday and the final this Sunday.
The native of Lyon, France is the first Husky to advance to the round of 16 in singles since Alex Vlaski won the title in 2003. In 2018, Kawika Lam and Enzo Sommer made the round of 16 in doubles.
