Doubles Semifinal Ahead For USC’s Stefan Dostanic, Bradley Frye At ITA All-American
TULSA, OKLA. — USC's doubles pair of #17 Stefan Dostanic and Bradley Frye tore off another straight-set win today in Tulsa, taking a place in tomorrow's semifinals at the ITA All-American Championships.
In the morning's singles action #68 Dostanic took just his second loss of the season, falling in the Round of 16 to Washington's #72 Clement Chidekh by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. That may have ended the junior's singles action in Tulsa, but he would regroup in the afternoon alongside his trusty doubles teammate, Frye.
Up against Denver's #20 Davis/Summers in the quarterfinals, Dostanic and Frye stayed the course, securing their third straight-set win of the event. Pushed to a tiebreaker in the second, Dostanic/Frye brought it home with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) decision to punch up a spot in the semifinals. That bout is set for 1 p.m. CT tomorrow (Oct. 9) against Ohio State's Boulais/Trotter.
Dostanic and Frye are aiming to become the first Trojan pair to reach the doubles final at the ITA All-American since the event's inception in 1985, when it was an all-USC final. That year, USC's Luke Jensen and Jorge Lozano beat fellow Trojans Rick Leach and Tim Pawsat in the title match.
