Utes Have Solid Day Two of Utah Invite

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Invitational continued today at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. The Utah squad played a round of doubles before moving on to a round of singles.
 
Doubles play began in the outdoor courts for the Utes but was moved indoors due to weather conditions. On court one, Francisco Bastias and Bruno Caula fell short to the Aggie duo for a score of 6-2. On court two, Jayson Blando and Mathias Gavelin battled it out with Utah State's Sergi Mico and Jack Ninteman but ultimately dropped the match 6-4.
 
On court three, Michael Blando and Bruno Krenn faced Javier Ruiz and Roko Savin and awarded the Utes their first win of the day, 6-4.
 
The tournament continued with singles, and Utah players faced Montana State opponents. Bastias gained his first victory of the day when he defeated Matej Panik 6-4, 6-3 on court one. On court two, Caula downed his opponent 6-2, 6-4.
 
Gavelin secured the day's second victory on court three after taking the upper hand against Jamieson Nathan, 6-3 6-3. On court four, Krenn took the win against Montana's Brad Buckland 6-2, 6-3. Closely following, J. Blando defeated Nejc Sitar 6-2, 6-3 on court five. On court six, M. Blando fell short to Manuel Monteiro, 6-2 6-2.
 
Day three of the Utah Invitational will begin at 9 a.m. MT on Saturday. The day will consist of two rounds of doubles, followed by two rounds of singles. Results can be viewed by visiting UtahUtes.com.
