Dawgs Wrap Up Day Two Of Husky Invite

SEATTLE -- Washington went up against Oregon in singles and had a sweep of DePaul in doubles today on the second day of the Husky Invitational at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Against the Ducks, the Dawgs had singles wins from Nika Zupancic, Zoey Weil, and Kelly Leung.

The tournament features a hidden dual structure with teams mixing and matching lineups for blocks of singles and doubles play. 

Zupancic looked in midseason form today in posting a 6-2, 6-2 win over Oregon's Lillian Mould. Weil had a straight-set win against Misaki Kobayashi of Oregon, and freshman Leung won, 6-3, 6-1, over Mia Ljubas. The Ducks won two lengthy three-setters with Sophie Luechser outlasting new Dawg Hikaru Sato, 7-5, 1-6, 6-2, and Myah Petchey overcoming sophomore Sarah-Maude Fortin, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

The Huskies swept three matches from DePaul in doubles, with teams of Sato/Zupancic, Tara Chilton/Fortin, and Weil/Ashley Chang.

The Husky Invite comes to a close on Sunday.
