DERBY, Conn. – The Washington men's rowing team finished second in the collegiate men's eight at Saturday's Head of the Housatonic.
Washington's time of 13:16.2 over the 2.3-mile race course was good for second place in the 17-boat field. Yale's A entry won the event, one of 43 on the day, with ha time of 12:53.0. Northeastern finished third, seven seconds behind Washington, with a time of 13:22.1.
"It was good to see some early-season competition today," said UW men's head coach Michael Callahan. "One of our goals this year is to seek out more races since our students haven't raced as much the last two years. This year, we are bringing two eights to the Head of the Charles for that reason."
The UW men's next race is indeed the Head of the Charles in Boston, where the Huskies will compete on day three, Sunday, Oct. 24.
