CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State is in fifth place after one round of play at the Oregon State Invitational, which was suspended due to darkness late in round two on Monday night. Round two is expected to continue play Tuesday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m. PT.
The Beavers A team shot a 5-over 290 in the first round at the par-71, 7,384 course at the Trysting Tree Golf Club. Oregon State's B squad finished at 14-over 296.
"We didn't finish round one very well, but then we got off to a nice start this afternoon," head coach Jon Reehoorn said. "Our short game wasn't sharp enough and we beat ourselves. We made too many unforced errors and I'm not sure if that's trying too hard because we're playing at home and the expectations are high. We need to do a better job of just playing golf and treating it one hole at a time."
Jackson Lake came out with a 1-under 70 to lead the first squad, and was followed by Carson Enright (1-over 72), Nolan Thoroughgood (2-over 73), Sean Kato (4-over 75) and Carson Barry (5-over 76).
Brody Marconi paced the Beavers' B squad at an even 71, followed by Mateo Fuenmayor (1-over 72), Brandon Eyre (2-over 73) and Alfred Raja (9-over 80).
