Lilia Vu Honored as 2021 Symetra Tour Player of the Year

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Former UCLA standout golfer Lilia Vu has been named the 2021 Symetra Tour Player of the Year, as voted by the Tour's membership and announced on Sunday.
 
Vu was the first Symetra Tour player to clinch her 2022 LPGA Tour Card when she captured her third victory of the season in August at the Four Winds Invitational with five events remaining on the 2021 schedule. Vu finished first on the Tour money list with $162,292.
 
Vu's two other came wins came at the Garden City Charity Classic in May and the Twin Bridges Championship in July. In total, Vu recorded eight top-5 finishes.
 
Vu shot 8-under 208 with a pair of 69's at the Garden City Charity Classic and replicated another 8-under performance (205) at the Twin Bridges Championship with a 67 and 68 in rounds two and three, respectively.
 
Vu's tournament win at the Four Winds Invitational saw her shoot 12-under 204 with three sub-70 round scores (68-69-67).
 
Per the Symetra Tour, Vu led the Tour in par-4 scoring (3.956) and was second in scoring average (70.037).
 
"It has been such a journey back to the LPGA Tour and I am so glad all the perseverance paid off," Vu said. "At a few points over the last couple years, I thought about putting the clubs away and going to law school, but my mom convinced me otherwise. I'm happy she did and for my time on the Symetra Tour. It provided a renewed confidence in my game to help me succeed at the LPGA level. I know I'm ready for it, now."
 
Vu made her debut on the LPGA Tour in 2018 and garnered her career-best placing at the 2018 ANA Inspiration as an amateur, tied for 40th.
