UCLA Ends Day One of Wolf Pack Classic in Fourth Place

RENO, Nev. – The UCLA men's golf team ended day one of the Wolf Pack Classic at the Hidden Valley Country Club in fourth place (+9, 292) through one around and halfway into round two before play was halted at 6:15 p.m. PT due to darkness. The Bruins have four-to-eight holes left to play in the second round tomorrow before rolling into round three.
 
Graduate Devon Bling leads the team, tied for fifth place at even par 123. Bling shot a 1-over 73 in round one with four birdies on the par-4 6th, par-5 7th, par-4 11th and par-3 12th. Prior to the suspension of play, Bling was shooting 1-under 50 through 13 holes in the second round. He birdied on the par-4 6th and par-3 11th again in round two.
 
Freshman Omar Morales is tied for 7th after shooting a 1-over 124 through 30 holes in his collegiate tournament debut. Morales holed three birdies in round three on the par-4 15th, par-5 18th and par-5 1st.
 
Senior Sean Maruyama, competing for the first time in over a year, also sits in the Top 10 in a field of 80 at 2-over 127, tied for 9th. Maruyama birdied four times in the first round, but negated them with two double bogeys.
 
Graduate Eddy Lai shot a 6-over 136 through 14 holes, good for tied for 34th. Redshirt sophomore Alvaro Muller Baumgart Lucena rounds out UCLA's fivesome at 8-over 124 through 30 holes. Mueller birdied twice in round two on the par-4 10th and par-4 13th.
 
The Bruins will resume play of round two at the Wolf Pack Classic tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. PT.
