TUCSON, Ariz. - After a successful week at the ITA All-American Championship, four Wildcats will head to southern California for the Aztec Fall Invitational. Junior Nick Lagaev, sophomore Jett Middleton, and seniors Jared Horwood and Conner Olsen will compete in San Diego.
Lagaev started his fall campaign well with four singles wins in his first two tournaments, including a ranked win over No. 97 Vito Tonejic in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. The junior has played two doubles matches with a 1-1 record in his second fall season. Middleton competed in his first tournament in the qualifying portion of the ITA All-American Championship, where he faced off against a ranked opponent in one of his two matches.
Horwood and Olsen both had their fall season debut at the Arizona Invitational at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. Both Wildcats made the semifinals match in singles and Olsen won his doubles championships, while Horwood had to pull out of the last day of the tournament with an injury. Olsen sports a 2-1 singles record and an undefeated 3-0 doubles record. Horwood finished 1-1 in singles and 2-0 in doubles after a successful tournament.
The Aztec Fall Invitational will start on Friday, Oct. 15. The match times and draws will be posted here when the draws have been made.
